The most recent data from the UNHCR shows that there are more than 43 million people worldwide who were forcibly displaced due to conflict and persecution, the highest number in more than 15 years. While volunteering in Ghana in 2008, Juan Pablo had the opportunity to meet Regina Krangar, a refugee from Sierra Leone, doing her part to combat this problem with love. She cares for more than 20 children coming from Liberia and Sierra Leone, and now also children who have been abandoned in Ghana. She provides them with food, medicine, shelter, a chance to go to school and above all, a family. Regina formally established ARCH (Abandoned Refugee Children’s Home) to give love and meaning to those who have been neglected. Her approach, “Your key always in life must be love.”
In the short term, it is our mission to help secure basic necessities for ARCH each month, including school fees. In the long term, we hope to raise enough money to buy them a home with land where they can farm and become more independent.

Breast Cancer is curable if detected early. With early detection, hundreds of thousands of lives worldwide could be saved every year according to the World Heath Organization. The WHO also suggests there are 2 components of early detection that have shown to improve cancer mortality: education and screening programs.
Unidas Contigo A.C. is a non-profit organization, based in Monterrey, Mexico and formed by breast cancer survivors and volunteers, whose principal objective is to provide emotional support to women diagnosed with breast cancer, to promote early detection practices, pay for mammograms, biopsies, medical tests, medicines, and sometimes help women with chemotherapy. It is the mission of the survivors to share their experience and infect those recently diagnosed with hope.
The lectures, self-examination conferences, support group sessions, and the annual seminar organized by Unidas Contigo A.C. attended by more than 1000 people, are all totally free. It is their vision that all Mexican women have the information necessary to detect breast cancer in a timely manner, and for those who have already been diagnosed, to receive emotional support and information to achieve a better quality of life.
